Flu Prompts Visitor Restrictions At Hospitals

The flu is responsible for limits being placed on visitors at IU Health Ball, Blackford and Jay Hospitals. As of Friday, only essential adults (18 or older) will be allowed to visit patients. Visitors who have flu-like symptoms, such as fever, cough, chills or muscle aches, will not be allowed to visit patients. Patients with flu-like symptoms will be asked to wear a surgical or isolation mask.

Winter Storm Warning In Delaware County

A winter storm warning is in effect for Delaware County from midnight tonight until 7am Sunday. Snow accumulations of 5 to 7 inches expected, according to the National Weather Service. Locally higher amounts are possible and weather experts say travel could be compromised as a result. Visibility issues behind the wheel are also a possibility.

Man Gets 16 Years In Shoe Store, Drug Dealing Case

16 years in prison for a Muncie man whom police claimed was using a shote store as a front to deal drugs. 34 year old Danny Terry copped a plea to dealing in meth and other counts, related to the operation taking place in Castleton Square Mall. He was handed 17 years incarceration, but the judge ruled the final year could be served by Terry at his home.

Abels To Speak At BSU Next Week

He’s an ad pro, editor, artist and storyteller, and also happens to be a Ball State alum, and on Thursday, January 17th, Travis Abels, will speak in the Ballroom of the Student Center at Ball State University. The title of his presentation is “Throw Away Process and Just Play.” The presentation is free and open to the public. Abels graduated from BSU in 2005, majoring in advertising and art.

New Tenant Announced For Former Borg Warner Campus

Waelz Sustainable Products is announcing plans today to establish operations in Muncie, creating up to 90 jobs over the next several years. The new facility, which will be located on the former Borg Warner campus, is one part of a major investment being made by Heritage Environmental to transform the property and facilitate the creation of up to an additional 210 jobs at the repurposed site.

Man Arrested After Driving Car Into House

Charges face a Muncie man police say crashed his SUV into a southside home. Police say first, 33 year old Brion Sharp of the 1100 block of East 29th Street tried to convince them he was his brother. He was charged with resisting law enforcement, identity deception, reckless driving and leaving the scene of an accident.

Roller Derby Action In Muncie

The Cornfed Derby Dames will hold their Season 9 home opener on Saturday, February 9 at the Delaware County Fairgrounds in the Memorial Building. The CFDD All-Stars will take on Steel City Roller Derby‘s Steel Hurtin of Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania and the Muncie Missfits will play Fort Wayne Derby Girls‘ SWAT Team of Fort Wayne. Doors open for the double header at 5 p.m. with a 6 p.m. start time for the All-Stars game

Madison County Hospitals Restricting Visits Over Flu Concerns

As of Wednesday, Community Hospital Anderson, St. Vincent Anderson and St. Vincent Mercy Hospital in Elwood are imposting visitation restrictions to help restrict exposure to the flu. They say they want to keep patients, visitors and staff safe fromm it. People with cold symptoms won’t be allowed for visits , nor will anyone under 17 years of age until further notice.

Police: Man Cops To Repeated Sex With Child Under 13

A Union City man police were rounding up for allatedly trying to have sex with one underage girl now faces charges of repeatedly abusing another. 46 year old Charles Eldridge was talking online to an undercover deputy whom he thought was a 13 year old girl. They arranged to meet at which time police moved in and Eldridge reporedly told police about engaging in repeated sex acts with another victim under 13.
